Travel Destination: Zakynthos | Greece

Over the past year, I've visited two destinations in Greece - Athens (future blog post coming soon) and Zakynthos.

My husband and I chose Zakynthos for its scenery, beaches and boating.

Zakynthos is a lesser-known island in comparison to popular islands like Mykonos and Santorini, but it is becoming more recognized for its picturesque Navagio Beach or "Shipwreck Beach".

This is probably the most instagrammed shot of Navagio Beach.

Of course, I had to get a shot while I was there #cliché :)

Hands down one of the most stunning beaches I've ever seen.

"Shipwreck Beach" gets its name from a shipwreck that occurred back in 1980.

The ship was suspected of smuggling contraband cigarettes and was pursued by the Greek Navy. After hitting rocks in bad weather, the ship was abandoned and still rests on the beach shore today.

We also stumbled upon Xigia Beach, a natural sulfur springs and collagen spa.

The natural spring water is filled with collagen and sulphur, which is really great for your skin and highly therapeutic.

In addition to the beautiful beaches, another must-see while in Zakynthos are the Blue Caves.

We were able to explore the Ionian Sea and caves by boat -- another highlight of our trip.

We rented a small motorboat for half a day for roughly $200 -- A steal!

We spotted quite a few super cute cafes while touring the island.

Overall, our visit to Zakynthos was amazing.

Things to Consider: There aren't a lot of accommodation options to choose from, so make sure you do your research before you go.
